Planning
and Implantation of Corporate Security Systems
Risk Assessment
It
is the process which balances and
evaluates risk factors, by confronting
them with judgments, patterns and
criteria, in order to verify if
the proposed security measures
are suitable. It is the base for
elaboration of Corporative Security
planning.
Risk assessment is preceded by Risk Analysis, comprising
the determination and probability of threats, vulnerabilities
and impacts. Their interaction results in the Degree
of Risk, which indicates the exposure level of a
certain sector, segment or process to the adverse
factors pondered.
In this phase, on must organize and interpret the
corporate incident records, if available, according
to the methodology adopted, inasmuch as it is extremely
important for the survey of threats and probabilities.
In Risk Assessment a systemic approach predominates
in which the whole and its parts are considered as
security systems and subsystems. The Assessment conclusions
define, in addition to the degree of risk in each
of the sectors assessed, the measures proposed for
risk decrease or neutralization.
The above activities require
specialized consultants. Their main objectives
are the company’s essential
areas, in which security system deficits may generate
unwanted incidents and situations of major or minor
seriousness. They range from material damages to
jeopardizing the image of the corporate management
of the organization.
